This Members Page gives the active members of our list a place to review important information contained in the Welcome Letter as well as access to our list member's birthdays. Another feature is the referral service at the bottom of the page. Know someone who might want to join us? Just enter their name and e-mail address and the link will be sent to them.

WELCOME! to the PAPFRIENDS mailing list! This internet list was born in May, 1997 as a place for those of us who love the Papillon breed (pet owners, breeders or other interested parties) to have a forum where we could openly discuss these endearing little dogs and enjoy each others friendship. Please sign the Guestbook on our MAIN page.

WHAT: This list is primarily for Papillon discussions but is not *exclusively* for such. While this list is made up of those interested in the Papillon dog, I like to think that while this is what brought us together initially, it is not what KEEPS us here. We have become a family and as such, someone might write about the birth of a grandchild, ask prayers for a sick relative, ask computer questions, share recipes, tell jokes, etc. This is not discouraged and all that is asked is that the words OFF TOPIC are put in the subject line. Our membership is made up of over 500 people, and friendships have been forged so if there is an "inside" comment that you do not understand, just ask! If you can tell by the subject line that the topic does not interest you, just exercise your *DELETE* key.

BASIC RULES: No foul language or off-color material. No explicit advertising of your dogs for sale. No unprovoked or unwarranted criticism of someone else's dogs or kennel. Try to be respectful in your disagreements. If it gets of the "flame variety" take it to personal e mail, PLEASE! It is the general consensus that we do not want this to be a Papillon Mailing list that has so many rules that people feel intimidated about posting but here are a few important ones! As list owner, I reserve the right, at my discretion, to remove anyone that is not abiding by our rules or posts e-mails which I find to be offensive or inappropriate. While Freelists does have a "review" option, I have never employed it as everyone is given the benefit of the doubt until they abuse that privilege.

PET PEEVES:
1. Do not, under any circumstances, include the entire original post in your reply. Use the "cut and paste" feature to only include pertinent parts of the original letter.

2. If you change a discussion in mid-topic then change the subject line as well. Something that starts as the subject "Introduction" and later becomes a discussion about grooming, for example, should have the subject GROOMING!

3. Please refrain from the 'me, too' type of posts. If you have a one word or one sentence response to a list post, click on REPLY instead of REPLY all and send your reply just to the person who made the original post. Example: Someone asks for your prayers. Since your prayers are for that person, send your reply JUST to them and not the entire list. There are still people who have limited time online and we really don't need to fill their mailboxes with our private posts to one another.

Also, cross posting to other lists is strongly discouraged.

4. Please do not take it upon yourself to publicly censure anyone. You are not the list owner. It is not your place. If you have a gripe, either privately e-mail the person with whom you disagree or write me. I reserve the right to unsubscribe you without warning if you start policing the papfriends list.

5. If you are want to post about something such as a fundraiser, supporting a specific cause, voting for a dog in an online contest, soliciting funds for someone who is ill, etc, that post MUST be sent to me, the list owner, first, to deem its appropriateness for the list and I will either send it on or let you know if it's ok for you to do so. If you post after that, it must have "POSTED WITH PERMISSION" at the top of your e mail so that the rest of the list members know that it was ok to send it.

ENJOY! This is a place for us to enjoy our pets and one another. A sense of humor is a prerequisite for membership on this list. Let's have a good time, ok?

POSTING LETTERS: Address your mail to papfriends@freelists.org and make sure to put something in the Subject line. Also, it is a good idea to put your name & e-mail address in your signature so that a list member can respond to your post privately, if they so desire. If you are new to the list, PLEASE post an introduction of yourself and your Papillons! Note that no attachments or html posts are allowed and will just show up as gobbledeegook text! This is done to protect members from e-mail viruses.

DIGEST: Papfriends has always been available in DIGEST form. These digests are sent out twice daily and contain many messages in one post and some individuals prefer to get their mail this way. If you are already subscribed to the regular mail, make sure to unsubscribe first or you will receive DOUBLE mail!

UNSUBSCRIBE: Sometimes you might find that you need to go no mail for a while because you are leaving town or whatever. Those of you who are on AOL need to watch this because your mailbox fills up rather quickly! In order to unsubscribe from this list, look on the bottom of a message you have received for directions.

CHAT: Papichat is the place for online real time discussion of this wonderful breed. Click HERE for instructions on how to access the #papichat chatroom.
